
A little bit less enjoyable was making the hazelnut meringue cake because the stupid meringue just wouldn't cook through. But although that was not what we were aiming for I was quite happy that the meringue didn't cook through because if I like meringue, I like it soft and chewy. This is what my creation looked like in the end:

Finally, we served our steak and kidney pudding that we had steamed over two days in suet pastry:
