A visit to the fish market

When my alarm rang at 5 am this morning I wasn't so sure anymore if signing up for a visit to Billingsgate fish market was such a good idea after all. But once I managed to get up and actually had to run for the train I was awake and looking forward to it.

Once I got out of the station at Canary Warf I could already smell the fish. The visit was organised by the Billingsgat Seafood Training School.

When the tour started at 6 am we were told that the busiest time had already passed and we were basically experiencing the end of it when the sellers were slowly starting to pack up:

It was very cold even though we were wearing scarfs and coats. But it was also really interesting being introduced to so many different types of fish.

Some local ones that we already knew but also some really exotic ones from India and Omar. A really great display and definitely worth getting up at 5 am.
